Had a really delicious lunch at Common Roots in uptown today. Split a couple of sandwiches with a friend.

Fried green tomato sandwich with pickled onions (left) and Whitefish salad sandwich (right). Both were excellent!

    Hi Pip,

I see you switched sites. Glad to hear a good report on Common Roots. I have wanted to like the food there but haven’t been super happy with it. So maybe things are improving…do you think? Faith

    Hey Faith-

I’d agree with you. When I first wen to Common Roots I was underwhelmed with the food. But they’ve changed it around, and the food is really delicious now.

I was there last weekend with some out of town friends and we couldn’t get in to have lunch at 3pm. It was too packed!

Give it a shot. And the trout sandwich is really yummy.

    hey pip,

thanks for the trout recommendation – I just looked at the website and saw it….says it’s on a hoagie roll. Hoagie is a word that holds fond memories of my years in Philly before moving here. Plus I love trout, and swiss cheese, and tartar sauce, and pickled onions. So, I guess my future is clear, will report back….

    Faith-

Let me know what you think. If they have the curry wheatberry salad, I also suggest trying that. It was very good.
